I am trying to write self-hosted chat client using open-source MQTT protocol[1][2]. My primary motivation is to use it with family/ spouse to exchange private data. I have a AWS server (and I hope more and more people starting to have a server) which i hope to put to more use than just for a blog.

If this is something which interests more people, then it will motivate me more to work on it.
